Listen to the ‘Aves’ soundscape

In the gallery at 1.30pm you would hear a beautiful soundscape swirling around the space. Derbyshire composer, Richard Birkin worked with our visitors to collect sounds of nature and used these to compose an amazing piece of original music. ‘Aves’ was inspired by a 1949 recording of a nightingale singing in Derbyshire that was sent in by a supporter - this can be heard nestled in the middle of the piece.

Listen to excerpts from the soundscape here.
